World Series of Poker has announced 2015 WSOPE to take place in Berlin

Scheduling of the 8th Annual Worlds Series of Poker Europe has been officially announced. The 2015 WSOPE will include 10 bracelet events, set to take place at Germany’s Spielbank Berlin from October 8-24.

Unlike the original, American version of the World Series of Poker, which dates back to 1970 and has always been held in Las Vegas, Nevada, the WSOP Europe has become a roaming poker festival. This marks the fourth city graced with the honor of hosting the WSOP Europe since its inaugural debut in 2007.

2015 WSOPE – On the Road to Berlin

2015 WSOPE hosted by Spielbank BerlinFor the first four years (2007-2010), London was the static host of the WSOP’s European extension. In 2011 and 2012, it was hosted in Cannes, France, then moved to Enghien-les-Bains, France (just outside of Paris) in 2013. At that point, WSOP officials decided to host the European poker festival on odd years only, with the WSOP Asia-Pacific being held on even years.
Betonline   OnlinePokerRealMoney.co.uk tries to dispel some legal confusions stemming from passage of George Bush's UIGEA of 2006 . Federal status seems to depend on interpretation of the wire act and other laws which were crafted many years ago and which remained high level in nature. The United Kingdom has much clearer laws including their own real money gambling commission .
As for why Berlin was selected as the host city for the 2015 WSOPE, WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart shed light on the issue. “Germany is truly a hotbed for poker talent,” said Stewart. The fact that the 2011 WSOPE Champion and current POY Award Winner, Elio Fox, calls Germany his home country had a little something to do with it as well.

“As home country to our reigning Player of the Year and 2011 World Champion, we look forward to discovering new names ready to perform on poker’s biggest stage,” Stewart continued. “Berlin became a logical choice city for WSOP Europe given its proximity to all of Europe, the experienced management team at Spielbank, and the gap of time since a major poker tournament has come to the city.

“We believe this truly will be the best organized and contested WSOP Europe ever,” Stewart concluded.

The 2015 WSOPE has a lot in store, including 10 bracelet awarding events and plenty of side action. Officials promised myriad side events, cash games and other special tournaments to be held on a daily basis.

Event #1 of the 2015 WSOPE will get underway on Thursday, October 8th as a 3-Day €2,200 NL Hold’em 6-Max. Then on Friday, the 5-Day €550 “Oktoberfest” NL Hold’em event is sure to attract the masses, being the least costly way to harvest a 2015 WSOPE bracelet. Another €550 PLO event will give poker players another economical shot on Oct 15.

The final event of the series should garner lots of attention as well. Event #10 is a NL Holdem High Roller with a €25,600 price tag per seat. In 2013, a parallel event attracted 80 entrants, delivering a €725k prize and WSOPE bracelet to Canadian poker pro Daniel Negreanu.

The 2015 WSOPE Main Event is slated for Sunday, Oct 18, with 7 days reserved for play. The €10,450 NL Holdem Main Event is expected to draw a larger crowd than the 2013 rendition, which saw Adrián Mateos fending off a field of 375 to scoop a cool €1 million of the €3.75mm prize pool.

Whether the 2015 WSOPE can top the 2011 version, which attracted the largest field/prize pool of 593/€5.93mm (sending the eventual winner, Elio Fox, home with €1.4 million), is a question that remains to be answered.
