It’s that time of year again, when the most proficient poker pros from the United Kingdom and beyond gather at the prevalent Dusk Till Dawn Casino in Nottingham to participate in the region’s newest and most exciting poker festival. The 2015 UK Poker Championships, or UKPC for short, are scheduled to begin next month, starting Friday, February 13th and ending Sunday, March 1st with the commencement of the UKPC Main Event’s final day.
This will be the second running of the UKPC after last year’s inaugural edition, which proved to be an enormous success. The 2015 UKPT should be much bigger, even if only judged by the fact that the UK Poker Championships’ Main Event guarantee has been doubled from £500,000 to £1,000,000. The number of bracelet-awarding events has been dropped from 6 to 4, but the overall payout jumped from £900k to £1.45 million across all tournaments.
Kicking off the 4-event series on Friday, Feb 13, is a new addition to the roster, the UKPC Mini. Featuring 7 days of Day 1 flights, with Day 1g offering a Turbo structure, the UKPC Mini presents a price tag of £100 + £10 and a guaranteed prize pool of £200k. To make things more interesting, four days of the starting flights will be hosted online at DTD’s online poker site, from Monday, Feb 16 – Thursday, Feb 19.
Then at 3:00pm on Sunday, Feb 22, Day 1a of the 2015 UKPC Main Event begins. With four entry flights priced at £1,000, the Main will culminate into a £1mm GTD with the final day commencing on Sunday, March 1. Considering the twice magnified prize pool, we can expect the most prodigious UK poker pros to all be in attendance.
On Tuesday, Feb 24, another event will take place that should attract all of the region’s top poker players. It’s the 2-day UKPC High Roller, boasting a £3,000 entry fee and promising to award £150,000 to the top contenders.
Wrapping things up is another new addition to the UK poker series, the UKPC 8-Max. It will feature two Day 1 flights starting on Friday, Feb 27, with the final day set for Sunday, March 1st, running right alongside the UKPC Main Event. With a £1,000 entry fee and £100k GTD up for grabs, this tournament is sure to attract most of the Main’s early railers.
The poker festival is once more being sponsored by SkyPoker, which will be hosting satellites to the 2015 UKPC up until the start of the poker festival in Nottingham. Satellites start at the lowest price tag of £1.00 + 0.15, scaling all the way up to £200 + £20 for direct buy-in to the 2015 UKPC Finals, held every Sunday at 9:15pm and guaranteeing at least 10 seats (1 seat for every 5 entries) into the Main Event.
The Dusk Till Dawn Casino in Nottingham will also be hosting live satellites into the 2015 UKPC, as well as online satellites from its website. DTD online poker satellites start as low as 1p, ranging up to £10 for the semi-final or £100 for the final, guaranteeing 1 UKPC Main Event seat for every 10 entries.
