Les Ambassadeurs used to be the jewel for London Clubs International. It was sold to an Indonesian billionaire, but it is still one of the most profitable UK casinos with a 1000 pound membership fee. As an exclusive club it was started in the 19th century. Today it is still the most unrivalled in terms of reputation. It certainly fits the building it is located in which has entertained millionaires, kings, politicians, and playboys since the very beginning. The club is located at Number 5 Hamilton Place, which was one of King Henry VIII’s hunting lodges before it was turned into the club. The 4th Earl of Buckinghamshire, a politician named Robert Hobart was the first to inhabit the building in 1812 to 1816. The property was given to the Marquis Conyngham. It was the third Marquess Conyngham that sold the house in 1878. A year later the house was bought by Leopold de Rothschild who decided to refurbish the home leaving Louis XV Renaissance décor behind and the magnificent library that is still a part of the club today. The house has always been owned privately as a gaming establishment.
Gaming
Les Ambassadeurs offers everything for casino play in their gaming room. Traditional tables to modern tables are present throughout the casino allowing for the contemporary vibe amid a historical setting. The garden smoking area is the smoking game room available for those who still wish to smoke and play at the same time. The red room of the Ambassadeurs was a night club, which has ceased to function at the moment as a night club. It can still be used as a private room, but dining and night club activities are no longer there.
Atmosphere
Les Ambassadeurs casino club is every bit French as the name implies. The décor is opulent with a lot of gold brocade, gold chairs, flooring and wall treatments. The dining room for example is all gold and brown colours to fit the elegant dining options. The rest of the casino has the French Renaissance appearance too.
Dining
The restaurant has several chefs of international reputation. The chefs create international, classic, and contemporary favourites with a full wine cellar. Dining here is just as much an experience as the gaming rooms. The bar serves well drinks, beer, and wine for its members. All drinks use brand name alcohol to fit the atmosphere of a place for friends or business associates to meet.
Overview
Les Ambassadeurs is an exclusive casino club for the wealthy and powerful. It is still a place that politicians, celebrities, and other high rollers visit. The high membership fee does make it a more exclusive club. To play here a deep pocket book is required, but the experience is definitely worth it with the various gaming tables, dining, and renaissance air it provides. The finest cuisine, smoking area, modern and traditional tables all add to the long history Les Ambassadeurs has offered guests in the past.
