UK online poker players land big weekend scores

Every weekend, the online poker industry hosts its biggest guaranteed events. Some of them take place on Saturday, but the bulk of them are commonly referred to as the Sunday Majors. The competition is fierce, especially among the largest operators where the prize pools are almost always in the 6-figure range, if not more. UK online poker players saw immense success at these events last weekend, snagging huge scores at PokerStars, 888Poker, PartyPoker and Full Tilt Poker.

UK PokerStars Winners

An anonymous but highly successful Brit who plays under the nickname “03042921” was the UK’s biggest winner at PokerStars on Sunday, taking down the $100 Sunday Rebuy $200k GTD for a lofty payday of $48,356.25. Christopher “NigDawG” Brammer of Winchester snagged himself $25,790 with a 3rd place finish at Saturday’s The Bigger $109, adding to the previous weekend’s $20k haul for finishing 1st.

In addition to those remarkable wins, one other UK online poker player snagged a noteworthy cash over the weekend, although it didn’t come with a win, place or show. Any final tablist of the PokerStars Sunday Million is in for a substantial prize though, as was the case for “Goldenboys” of London. Tearing through the massive field of 6,704, the online poker pro lasted right up to 7th place for a tidy sum of $28,190.80.

UK 888Poker Winners

The largest payout for a UK online poker player on 888Poker was awarded to Dave “magicdave2” Hardy of Essex. Hardy grinded out the $100k GTD Mega Deep to the tune of $33,276 for the win. In similar fashion, fellow Brit Ben “TopBeaver69” Spraggons routed the field of the $50k GTD Turbo Mega Deep for $14,398.

UK PartyPoker Winners

Over at PartyPoker, the British were throwing a party of their own as they celebrated a huge score for Jason “alstonsloft” Williams of Newcastle. He wrangled up a $32,750 win in the PartyPoker $200k GTD on Sunday. Making the victory all the more sweet was a marginally swelled 1st place prize due to a below average field. As has been the case in recent weeks, the online poker tournament drew just 866 entries, meaning an overlay forced PartyPoker to dip into their pockets to cover $38,924 of the guarantee.

UK Full Tilt Poker Winners

None of our British heroes landed in the winner’s circle at Full Tilt Poker over the weekend, but several of them finished very high up on the boards. And with the site’s most renowned online poker series underway, FTOPS, that means big bucks for high ranking finishers.

Kudos to British poker player “UpTheMariners”, who whittled his way through the 1,136 field into a heads-up battle with “tua133” in FTOPS XXVII Event #29. The $215 NLHE 6-Max with $200k GTD earned him $30,444.80 for the 2nd place finish. “Pokerk1ing133” had a solid run in the $1,000,000 GTD FTOPS Main Event, hitting the rails in 10th for $10,602. And finally, our congratulations go out to Daryl “DJG1989” Green, who lit up the final table of the $75k GTD Super Sized Sunday to claim $17,136 as the runner up.
