Moorman’s hot streak pushes him to 3rd in UK Online Poker Rankings

When we think of today’s top professional poker players, superstars like Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth often come to mind. But if we narrow the thought process to online poker pros, there’s no one more prominent than Chris “Moorman1” Moorman. The British poker phenom holds the record with 22 Triple Crowns and has more than 7,000 cashes in online tournaments, amounting to over $11.4 million (£6.9mm) in winnings. He’s been on a molten hot streak all year, already pocketing more than half a million and boosting himself into the #3 spot in the UK’s online poker rankings; 21st in the world.

Moorman has been grinding the felt with a persistence not commonly seen in the internet poker industry, often times competing in dozens of tournaments each day across multiple poker sites. That in itself may not be a rarity, but the number of times he cashes is the real phenomenon. Last Sunday, he finished in the money in 12 tournaments; 14 the Sunday before that. In the days between (Mon-Sat) he cashed 35 times. That’ 61 cashes in 8 days racking up $74k (£44.7k).

In the last 120 days, Moorman has entered 1,596 online poker tournaments, racking up $270,460 (£163k). Add in all of his attempts in 2014 and those figures rise to 3,377 tournament entries with $510,521 (£307.8k). It’s truly amazing what this young poker legend, at just 29 years of age, has accomplished on the virtual felt. Having been tracked by PocketFives since May of 2006, Chris Moorman has a total of $11,467,162 (£6,913,488) in online poker tournament cashes.

Moorman1’s intensity has earned him a 3rd place ranking on the UK leaderboard, about 600 points by the runner-up, Rick “TheClaimeer” Trigg, and 1,300 points behind the current leader, Patrick “pleno1” Leonard. At this rate, however, Chris is on track breeze past Trigg in the coming months, if not overtake the top spot in the UK online poker rankings. If that were to happen, chances are Moorman could easily become the top ranked online poker player in the world. Fellow British poker pro Patrick Leonard is in 2nd place upon that esteemed list at the moment, outranked only by “p0cket00” of Ontario, Canada.

Chris Moorman’s rise to fame began in 2008, his third year on the virtual felt. He racked up about $715k (£431) that year; enough to shine a noticeable spotlight on the young Brit. In 2009, he was well on his way to exceeding the previous year’s total when the most legendary poker player the world has ever known trained his eyes upon the rising star. Doyle Brunson was looking to sign 10 young prodigies to his then-thriving DoylesRoom poker site. Moorman eagerly agreed to join the ‘Brunson 10’ and by the time 2009 was over, he had earned the largest annual salary of his online poker career to date, $1.137 million (£685k).

Brunson has also endorsed Chris Moorman’s new poker book, agreeing to scribe the Forward for ‘Moorman’s Book of Poker’. The online poker strategy guide, co-authored by Byron Jacobs, is due to hit the shelves in November of 2014 and is already projected to be a best-seller among its genre.
